Data controller
VideoTraining (see the Imprint page for the operating company's registered details) is the controller responsible for the processing of personal data described in this policy. Questions about this policy can be sent to the contact address listed on the Imprint page.
Data we collect
We collect account data you provide directly (name, email address, password hash), payment and billing data processed on our behalf by our payment provider, course-progress data (lessons watched, completion state), and technical data such as IP address, device/browser information, and product-usage events.
Purposes and legal basis
We process this data to create and maintain your account, deliver purchased or subscribed course content, process payments, respond to support requests, and improve the product. The legal bases relied on are performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), legitimate interest in operating and improving the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and, where applicable, your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Cookies and analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how learners use the platform. Analytics cookies and similar technologies are only set with your consent where required by applicable law, and you can withdraw that consent at any time through your cookie settings.
Third-party processors
We share data with processors strictly as needed to run the service: our payment provider (checkout and subscription billing), our video hosting provider (video storage, streaming, and transcript generation), our authentication infrastructure (account sign-in), our email provider (transactional email), and our analytics provider (usage analytics). Each processor is bound by a data processing agreement.
Data retention
We retain account and course-progress data for as long as your account is active, and billing records for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law. Data is deleted or anonymized once it is no longer needed for these purposes.
Your rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
International transfers
Where a processor is located outside the European Economic Area, we rely on an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses to safeguard the transfer of your data.
